Our star seems to be as agitated as we are these days...The ESA/NASA Solar Orbiter spacecraft has captured the largest solar prominence eruption ever observed in a single image together with the full solar disc. This latest CME event took place on 15 February 2022 and extended millions of kilometers into space. The coronal mass ejection was not directed at Earth but was travelling away from us. Extreme rain events have been affecting California and snow has blanketed the Pacific Northwest. NASA/NOAA's GOES Project created a satellite animation showing the storms affecting the region from Jan. 6 through 9, 2017. Today, another area of low pressure moved over Oregon, where the National Weather Service is forecasting heavy snows.
